Despite a 443 yard performance by Bastrop quarterback Josiah Monroe against Westlake, the Chaparrals defeated the Bears 49-36. Westlake took a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter on a 32 yard run by Jeff Ballew and a 19 yard run by Ryan Swope. Westlake scored again in the 2nd quarter on a 1 yard run by Tanner Price to bring the score to 21-0. The Bears got on the scoreboard on a 24 yard run by Monroe with the score now 21-7. Westlake scored again on a 10 yard pass from Rice to Mike Walker and the score 28-7. Monroe scored again for the Bears on a 15 yard run and the half ended 28-14. Westlake scored twice in the 3rd quarter on runs by Swope of 54 and 8 yards and the score 42-14 at the end of the quarter. In the 4th quarter the Bears scored twice on a 27 yard pass from Monroe to Matt Homesley and then a 17 yard run by Monroe. Monroe passed for 2 points and the score became 42-28. Westlake scored next on a 55 yard run by Walker and the score going to 49-28. Bastrop ended the scoring on a 57 yard pass from Monroe to Bubba Johnson. Monroe again passed for the extra points for a final score of 49 to 36. Bastrop led in 1st downs 30 to 18, passing yards 293 to 98, and Westlake led in rushing yards 335 to 276. Monroe passed for 293 yards and rushed for 150 yards.
