Bastrop beats Austin Anderson 35-17

The Bastrop Bears defeated Austin Anderson on Homecoming Night 35-17. Dentray Washington rushed for a record 317 yards on 28 carries passing the 1,000 yard mark easily for the season. He scored 4 touchdowns for the night. Bastrop scored first on a Washington 16 yard run. Anderson scored on a 13 yard run by Patrick Kurunwune and the 1st period ended 7-7. In the 2nd period Washington scored on a 14 yard pass from Michael Mills to take a 14-7 lead for the Bears. He then scored on a 75 yarder for a 21-7 lead. Anderson’s Alex Foster kicked a late 22 yard field goal to end the half with a 21-10 Bear lead. On a 95 yard drive, Washington scored from the 5 to bring the score to 28-10. The Bears carried this lead into the 4th quarter. Anderson scored next on a Duncan McGee 2 yard run. O.J. Sanchez closed the scoring on a 5 yard run to bring the final score to 35-17 for the Bears win. The Bears led in first downs 27-15, rushing yards 438-72. Anderson led in passing yards 225-38. Washington led rushers with 317 yards, followed by O.J. Sanchez with 64, and Damion Green with 55.
