Bastrop beats Austin McCallum in playoff Bidistrict game!


The Bastrop Bears defeated the Austin McCallum Knights 42-33 in a Class 4A Division II bi-district playoff game Saturday. The Bears rushed to a 28-7 lead in the second quarter before the Knights scored two touchdowns before half time making the half time score 28-21. The Bears scored in the first 14 seconds after recovering a fumble on the Knights 19 yard line. Ricky Lincoln scored on a 19 yard run. A minute later the Knights scored on a 59 yard run to tie the score 7-7. Lincoln scored again on a 3 yard run before the quarter ended. The extra point was not good. In the 2nd quarter, Lincoln scored again on a 7 yard run. The 2 pt. conversion was good with a pass to Dominique Moore.With 4 minutes left in the half, Moore scored again on a 23 yard pass. The Knights then exploded for 2 touchdowns before half time on an 82 yard pass and run, then another 31 yard touchdown pass. The Bears remained 7 points ahead at halftime. The Bears then scored on their first possession in the 2nd half on a 3 yard run by Johnson after a 9 play 60 yard drive. The Knights then scored again on an 18 yard scoring pass-the extra point try was blocked and the score remained 35-27. On the Knights next posssession, they scored again on a 16 yard run-the two point extra point try was no good leaving the Bears ahead 35-33. The final score came in the final period when the Bears went on a 13 play seven minute drive with Ricky Lincoln scoring his fourth touchdown of the game with a 1 yard run.The Knights last drive of the game ended on the Bear 13. when Ryan Lincoln intercepted a pass in the end zone. Ricky Lincoln was the leading rusher with 211 yards on 35 carries.Moore caught 3 passes for 75 yards. The Bears led in first downs 18-14. rushing 338-109, with the Knights leading in passing 331-121. The Bears next meet the Alamo Heights Mules.
