Proposition 1
•
$59,790,000
This proposition includes funding for a second high
school and renovations to the current high school. Projected cost for a
second high school is $39,845,000. Included in this part of the proposition
are:
- general learning classrooms
- lab/lecture classrooms to include science labs and career and
technology labs
- 2 gymnasiums with dressing facilities
- library
- kitchen/cafetorium
- sports fields with dressing facilities
- fine arts classrooms for band, art, choir, theater arts
This proposition also includes funding for renovations to
Bastrop High School. Projected cost for renovations to the current high
school is $19,945,000. Included in this part of the proposition are:
- construction of a new science wing
- construction of a new kitchen/cafetorium
- expansion of the library into commons area for increased student
capacity
- converting the existing kitchen area into PE locker room areas,
student support spaces and teacher work room (reuse newer kitchen
equipment in a new kitchen)
- replacing damaged or worn air conditioning units in selected areas
- renovating entire high school to improve finishes and appearance of
floors, walls, and ceilings
- upgrading the electrical system throughout the building to support
technology needs
- improve light levels where needed to meet current standards
- minor wall relocation as needed to accommodate new programs
- renovating restrooms to improve accessibility
- adding telephones in classrooms for improved security and
communications
- renovations to Erhard Football Field to include concessions and
restrooms
Proposition 2
•
$2,215,000
This proposition provides funding for the construction
of an auditorium at the existing Bastrop High School.

$2,215,000
This proposition provides funding for the construction
of an auditorium at the new high school.

Above information is from the BISD School Construction Bond Referendum
brochure. Because of the high levels of growth in our area ,
this bond package is needed because the BISD high school student
enrollment is expected to reach 3,353 by 2010. This is almost 1,300 more
students then are enrolled today. For more information, please contact the
