Jim Tausworthe, a fellow graduate of the Bastrop High School Class of 1946, has finished his latest fiction book entitled The 405th. This is an action packed fiction thriller taking place during World War II. Of special interest to Bastrop area readers is that the main character, Major Jack Arnett, is from Bastrop, Texas. There are many  references to Bastrop and the surrounding area. This novel takes place during one of the most critical times in our nation’s history and tells how the 405th Bomb Squadron was involved in the Pacific War Theater during World War II.

Jim Tausworthe has returned to Bastrop for a number of  Reunions for the Class of 1946. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the 405th “Green Dragon” Bomb Squadron. He was assigned to both the North American B-25 and the Douglas A-26. He has had a life-long love of flying and aviation. He and his wife, Millie, retired to their home in the Ozarks, where they still fly from their private farm airstrip.

The author has donated several copies of this book to the Bastrop Public Library. Though the book was originally published for family and friends, because of requests, it has been made available from the author for $15.00 plus $4.00 for shipping and handling.  If anyone is interested, they can call  573-674-2107, e-mail tausrivr@train.missouri.org, or request by mail to Millie Tausworthe, P. O. Box 253, 16401 Taus River Lane, Houston, Missouri 65483.  Checks can be made payable to TAUS RIVER.
