Bastrop defeated Akins 52-41 in another high scoring game. The Bears duplicated their 52 points scored last week. Bastrop meets Leander in Bi-District playoffs at Burger Stadium in Austin at 7:30 pm on Friday. Leander lost their first game this week after winning their first nine games in a row. The Bears started right Thursday night by scoring on a 65 yard run by Jason Klaus on the 1st play from scrimmage, after Akins had scored first on a 41 yard field goal by Joseph Skiff. Kevin Klaus then kicked a 27 yard field goal to give the Bears a 10-3 lead. On a 77 yd TD pass, Akins tied the score and the quarter ended 10-10. In the 2nd Quarter, Akins went ahead on a 3-yard run for a 17-10 lead. Bastrop tied the game on a 20 yard pass from Jordan Monroe to Damian Couthren. Akins then went ahead on a 41-yard field goal. Ryan Lincoln caught a 5-yard pass from Monroe to take a 24-20 halftime lead. The Bears scored first in the 2nd half on a 3-yard run by Klaus. Akins countered with a 20-yard TD run by Harris and then a 53 yard TD pass to Aguirre giving them a 34-31 lead after 3 quarters. Monroe scored on a one yard run to regain the lead for the Bears 38-34.Cory McDaniel scored again for the Bears on a 26 yard reverse, giving them a 45-34 lead. Bastrop then drove 72 yards with Klaus scoring on a 1-yard run. The Bears led 52-34. Akins did not quit and scored on a late 9-yard pass. They then recovered an on side kick and threatened again as time ran out with the Bears winning 52-41. The Bears led in first downs 30-25, rushing 445-175. Akins led in passing 276-74. The Bears averaged 9 yards per carry with Jason Klaus running for 218 yards. Lincoln 65 yards, McDaniel 73 yards, Monroe 56 yards and LaBoy 33 yards.
